To Heal a Broken Heart by Aveline Brooke

Official book blurb:

Cover

To Heal a Broken Heart by Aveline Brooke

My opinion on the cover:

This cover is simply GORGEOUS!!! The reds, the girl’s dress and hair, the roses… it’s just all so pretty! Personally, I thought this book looked more like it would match a cover for a retelling of Rapunzel, rather than Beauty and the Beast, but it is so stunning that I can’t complain one bit!!!

Lucien must battle with hope as his growing affection for Anelise rivals his notions of true love, and Anelise must reconcile with the idea that perhaps hearts can heal, love is not for swearing off, and that hope can be found in the most unlikely of circumstances.

Author bio:

Aveline Brooke discovered a great love for reading and writing fantasy from a young age, and it has been a constant source of joy since. Although she graduated with an Associate’s degree in digital design, she realized that her heart was in storytelling. She is always working and learning to become a more skilled writer.

Aveline is a proud Catholic who lives with her husband, son and two cats in the American South. She values family, cultivating beauty in our daily lives, and good food. She is excited to share the journey as she gets closer to the official debut of her first novel, The Crown Prince Wretched.

To Curse a Black Swan by Leialoha Humpherys

Official book blurb:

Cover:

To Curse a Black Swan by Leialoha Humpherys

My opinion on the cover:

It’s really pretty!!! I would’ve expected the girl’s dress to reflect a bit of influence from the ballet, but I guess it’s a book not a ballet… No, this isn’t about the cover, but I am REALLY excited to read this one!!! Swan Lake is such a beautiful story. Also, I recently read and reviewed Leialoha Humpherys’ recent release Married at Sunrise, and it completely blew me away!!! (You can read my review HERE.)

Author bio:

Originally from the Big Island of Hawaii, Leialoha Humpherys loves God and Jesus Christ, her husband (Jordan), and good food, of course! She graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in English from the University of Hawaii at Hilo.

Her debut novel, Aloha State of Mind, a self help book about creating paradise where you are, was published in 2021 and has been followed by fairy tale retellings, young adult, and epic fantasy novels set in ancient Hawaii.

She is now mainly focusing on fairy tale retellings, although you can find more about her self help and Hawaiian culture writings at her blog, Naturally Aloha.

Her fairy tales are known for the protagonists tackling difficult, sometimes dark, challenges yet finding hope and happily-ever-afters, despite their circumstances. She hopes that her writing can invite love and light into your life.

Leialoha loves the ocean, Hawaiian culture and folklore, creating, and anything with coconut. She, her husband, and their sweet baby girl currently live in the small town of Santaquin, Utah.

To Crack a Soldier by Sarah Beran

Official book blurb:

Cover:

To Crack a Soldier by Sarah Beran

My opinion on the cover:

I appreciate the little nods to the ballet in the cover. The icy blues work together so nicely!!! The glassy texture of the font really helped communicate the wintry feel of the book! I didn’t love the music notes on the cover. Like what is that sharp sign doing there? Why aren’t the stems on the notes long enough? Yes, I’m being picky about things very few people would notice, but taking twelve year’s worth of music theory tests has to count for something!!!

Author bio:

Sarah lives in sunny southern California with her husband, two small children, and dog Pippin. An elementary music teacher by day, when she is not writing or devouring books, she spends her free time running, making music, or playing make believe.
